Sergio Sill

Birth and Early Life：
Sergio Sill was born in Italy in 1946. When he was four years old, his family migrated to Australia.

Education：
After graduating in Architecture and practising for several years, he turned to art and studied Art and Design at Preston Institute of Technology in Melbourne.

Artistic Beginnings – Ceramics Phase：
He began his artistic life by following his passion for working with earth elements, creating wood-fired ceramics. This period lasted for nearly twenty years.

Transition and Exploration of Diverse Media：
In his ongoing quest for broader artistic expression, he moved from the richness of clay to the exuberance of colour, exploring oil, acrylic, gouache and pastel on canvas, board and paper.

Exhibitions and Achievements：
Sergio has held more than thirty-five solo exhibitions.

Distinctive Characteristics of His Work：
His paintings serve as a visual reportage of his life, interpreting the external environment through landscape. The works are moderate in scale and are noted for their sensitive interpretation of light and the Australian bush.
